Jamison Professional Services, Inc. (“Jamison”) is currently seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Legal Assistant II.


The Contractor shall provide one (1) Legal Assistant II to perform, but not limited to the following:

Examines, prepares and processes a wide variety of technical legal documents which are characteristically voluminous and complex in format.

Prepare trial notebooks, assembling jury instructions, compiling witness and exhibit lists.

Provides automated litigation support to attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom presentations by utilizing various software applications and graphics hardware, e.g. scanners and plotters. Maintains calendar of assigned active cases.

Performs docketing duties in an automated case management system such as opening, updating and closing cases and searching the database for require information.

Reviews bills and invoices and submits information to budget office for payment.

Received and distributes incoming mail, including service of process.

Arranges travel by preparing itinerary, securing transportation and hotel reservations, and preparing travel authorizations and vouchers in automated travel system.

Prepares travel authorizations and vouchers for various staff members. Arranges travel by preparing itinerary, securing transportation, and hotel reservations.

Reviews and analyzes Financial Litigation Unit cases

Provides litigation assistance to attorneys by transcribing and/or correcting transcripts of audio recordings, bates stamping and copying documents, and producing and/or duplicating CDs and DVDs.

The Legal Assistant II must have:
• High School Diploma; An undergraduate degree is preferred, but not required.
• Good communication skills;
• Provide word processing and data entry/retrieval;
• Ability to review and analyze data and information from multiple sources;
• Ability to establish case/project files;
• Ability to enter and retrieve data from databases;
• Ability to prepare and format management reports;
• Ability to manipulate, transfer, compute and print information;
• Ability to prepare and correct reports and correspondence using word processing software;
• Ability to schedule appointments;
• Answer inquiries regarding case-related information as maintained in the database;
• Answer inquiries regarding case-related status;
• Obtain additional information from other agencies/organizations;
• Maintain internal status information on the disposition of designated information, files, and assets;
• Assure information is accurate and perform analytical computations necessary to process data;
• Provide administrative information and assistance concerning case or file to other agencies or organizations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER EXPERTISE REQUIRED
The Legal Assistant II contract employee must have good communication and organizational skills, the ability to deliver highest quality work under pressure, and knowledge of software used by the USAO (or the ability to acquire knowledge about the USAO’s computer systems). The contractor must have the ability to prove U.S. citizenship and that the contractor personnel meet the Department of Justice residency requirements.

Office Location:
U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Georgia, 600 James Brown Blvd Suite 200, Augusta, GA

Travel within the district is may be required. Allowable travel expenses will be reimbursed as described in Section 6.0, Travel.

Working Hours:
The normal working hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a one hour lunch break, or between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break, Monday through Friday.

Hourly Rate: $23.14 plus benefits.
