DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:

The Credentialing and Privileging Specialist performs credentialing and privileging tasks, including but not limited to, enrollment, primary source verifications, privileging, internal monitoring, support to the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, correspondence with healthcare practitioners, understanding of Medical Staff Bylaws, support in reporting to State Licensing Boards, and understanding of National Practitioner Databank reports.

REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

High school diploma

Minimum two (2) years of experience.

CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates must have CPCS and/or CPMSM certifications from the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) and/or minimum of two years of current credentialing and privileging specialist experience within VHA (current is defined as separation within the last two years).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain licensing, credentials and insurance records.
  • Conduct research on updated state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Release information to requesting agencies and public inquiries when required by law.
  • Monitor license and credential expiration dates and advise staff members of required “renew by” dates.
  • Ensure the facility and staff members are maintaining compliance with regulatory and accrediting institutions.
  • Responsible for obtaining, reviewing, and transferring provider compliance documentation and must adhere to strict hospital requirements and deadlines.
  • Verify and assess the credentials of providers to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective internal communication is key.
  • Ability to multitask is a must, especially with time-sensitive items.

We are seeking candidates available to work onsite at various locations nationwide. This role requires candidates to be available to work in-person at designated sites nationwide.
